Best Cold Air Intake for 2.7 engine?

I just bought a 2002 Toyota Tacoma. I was wondering what the best Cold Air Intake for this truck would be, considering sound and performance, along with fuel mileage and more power? It has a 2.7 motor. Thanks.

Stock is cold air. An aftermarket intake won't do anything in the power or MPG department but it will sound great.

Well from what I read on the 1st gens a deckplate mod works best and it is cheap. Search up on it.

NONE dont waste your money. Get a drop in AFE pro dry s and remove the secondary air filter and your good to go

EDIT: did not realize you had a 1st gen. Deck plate mod and a drop in filter

I have a Volant CAI with ram air. I noticed a slight increase in acceleration and it does sound bad ass. The CAI is on the left and the ram air is in the center up front - it allows more air into it. I have it for the 2nd gen, not sure if they make something similar for the 1st gen like yours. I would definitely recommend it if they do make a similar set up for yours.

I am trying to figure out how to incoperate the blocked off fog light holes and route that into the stock air box. Those are extremely high pressure areas and I think that it would pressurize the airbox pretty well and create some nice ram air. I am just so lazy lol

I won't lie. I have a TRD intake but the plan was to add a blower but then I decided it is a truck and it won't be that fast in the end.

I have a way that other might be able to save at least 250...buy the ram air itself and use the stock air box. You will have to cut a hole in it and maybe add some tubing to the ram air but it could very easily work. Then remove the secondary and add an AFE pro dry and you got something just as functional as your setup without spending all that coin

Just ebayed it and the ram air runs about 180

If you really must have an intake then look at Volant:

or if you want something really louder check out AFE and K&N but those aren't cold air intakes. None of these aftermarket choices will give you anymore power than a deckplate mod. Good luck.

Edit: Before you make another thread, throttle body spacers don't do anything.
