Hello All - I'm not a Tacoma owner yet but I have $15k to spend on a used 4WD Tacoma and I'm looking at model years 2000 thru 2004... and man are they scarce with under 80k miles! I bought a new Tundra in 1999, one of the first 2WD long bed base models made. It's been a great truck but it's time for 4WD and better gas mileage. I am my own mechanic and I look forward to modifying my Tacoma once I get one.

Welcome. Are you looking at a 4cyl? the 6 cyl actually gets worse gas mileage than probably your Tundra. alot of people complain about the gas mileage. Other than that the truck is the most reliable one you will have.

Yep, looking for a 4 cyl - which is why I'm having a hard time finding what I want. There's more than a few 3.4 liter V-6 trucks available... but at 15 - 17 mpg they are worse than my Tundra. And I bet we see $4/gal gas this year...
