I finally bought my first Tacoma last week, coming from an old Cherokee with 220k on the clock. It's a 2011 access cab TRD 6 speed, love the truck, hated the back seat. This what I came up with for a fix, after poking around on this site to get some ideas.

Guess I could have included some details...I removed the headrests, sub woofer and center console, built a wooden seat to fit in the empty space, padded it, upholstered it with marine vinyl and mounted it using the original seat belt bolt holes, then covered the holes from the sub using the same vinyl. I think it is a huge improvement over what was there, at least now my dog can get in the back.
