My Obsolete Toy is, of course, the Toyota T-100. Mine is a '96 4x4 Extra Cab. It has served me well since I purchased it new. It currently has 155,000 miles on it and hasn't had any major work done to it, just regular maintenence, and couple of clutches.

I live in Vancouver, WA and the truck has taken many off road expeditions: all over Washington and Oregon mostly.

I haven't modded it, nor really felt the need to. I usually drive slowly when off road -- I'm more of an explorer than a racer or crawler. A good trip involves lots of campfires, steaks and beer (not while driving, of course).

Lately I've been thinking it might be fun to do some desert racing and that's the main reason I'm considering buying a Taco: to build out as a race truck.

Thanks for putting up the forum.

I've been doing some work on my T-100 and it's running better than ever. I recently had the bearings and tensioners on the timing belt replaced as they hard started to whine. Then, a few weeks after that the Check Engine light comes on.

The mechanic (who is an excellent fellow) put the computer on it and it says #4 cylinder is misfiring. Replaced the plugs, #4 ignition coil and plug wires. It looks way more sano, as the new stuff is smaller than the old stuff (the plug wires)

The biggest difference was getting a full fuel injection flush. I've never done this before. It was gross the blue smoke pouring out of the exhaust.. (He used a $6000. Snap-On Device)

But the end result of this is truck that running better than it has for a long time.

Next up I'm getting a utility style bumper made (with mounts for a Warn-8000 Winch). I'll put some pics up when that's done.

    Thanks for all the welcomes!

I explained to my car-buddy friend that I think I *NEED* three trucks: the Obsolete Toy for expeditions. A 2WD 4banger reg-cab Tacoma shortbed for city driving, and something to turn into a desert racer - maybe a Tacoma or Nissan other mini-truck.

You know it's a good friend when they understand these obsesssions! ONWARD!
