Actually just found a great write-up on how to do this. Should have looked harder.

i bought my truck used with some chrome wheels, but i'm not one to sit around and polish my wheels. Is that something where I could have them stripped and painted? Or, is it better to powder coat?

I had some chrome ones that I wanted to powder coat and was thinking of having the chrome sand blasted before.:notsure: never did it but I think it's deff doable.

Thanks for the pics guys. Arrowelk, really like that you didnt paint the lugs. Did you add those chrome machine screws to the wheels, or were they already there? Either way...very cool look. I am inspired. Here's the truck I am doing the wheels on:

Those aren't screws just divits in the rim. I filled the divits with clay before I painted. Popped the clay out when paint was dry. I like the result!

Plasti-Dip may work for some..I didn't like it at all.

Honestly, if you are on the fence at all about deciding to Plasti-Dip or Paint/Powdercoat...go with the latter.

After about a week, it was a dust magnet and was already peeling.
Sure, Plasti-Dip does peel right off, until a point. Prep time for paint was tripled trying to get every last bit of that shite off.

Plasti-Dipped the cat with the leftover can.

    No. Not really.

Good choice. That's what I've got on my FJ Bruiser. Should have gotten a little more dish! :p
