Eat Fish, Seriously

Jake, currently living in Point Judith, Rhode Island - moving out to Port Townsend, Washington towards the first of May.

I've been a full-time commercial fisherman since graduating High School in 2008. Fished out of RI, Dutch and Kodiak. I'll be in Kodiak for the Summer, engineering on a Salmon Tender - then Halibut until Sept. Any Tacoma World members in the Port Towsend area? Any other fisherman?

This is a great resource, first used the site when I was going through the rust recall with my 2000 SR5.

Current truck is an 07 4x4 2.7. Love it. All basic mods so far - BHLM, badges, wheels...Going to treat myself after Salmon season to a lift and some bigger tires. Trying not to get too carried away. Trying to resist the urge to uber-modify....

This pretty much says it all. Unfortunately, 10 MPG wasn't cutting it anymore. 1986 FJ60. Sold two months ago.

How do you like your Nikon D3000? Seriously thinking about getting one before going North.

those are nice man, as far as the d3000 goes, I love it so far, i kind of wish it had a built in motor so i wouldnt have to upgrade to use the autofocus on some lenses(50mm f1.8 and other higher end lens). I also kind of wish it took video, but thats not a big deal, if i wanted something for videos i would have gotten a camcorder. Depending on how much into photography you want to get id say go for it or d5000, if you plan on expanding to more professional then i would say go straight to something like a d90 or d7000, all depends on how much you want to do and how much you want to spend

 

Yeah, was just talking to a friend who went with a D5000. She like's it a lot.

yeah it is, i would love to have a d90 but its just pretty expensive.

also to add about the d3000, it doesnt perform that great at high ISOs(1600-3200) but what can you expect from and entry level dslr, also nothing that a fast lens couldnt fix
