Howdy. I just bought a 97 Tacoma (2WD) with 100,000 on the clock. I'm pretty pleased with it so far. My only gripes are that the clutch engages way to high and the shocks are wore completly out. I'm wondering if the clutch just needs bled or something. I'm looking forward to keeping this truck around for another 100,000.

    Welcome to TW!

I am not too familiar with the older Tacomas, but it seems to me that you should be able to adjust the cable on the pedal to your preferred height. I am not sure if the clutch is hydraulic or mechanical - I honestly have never even looked at mine. Is this a new clutch or original?

As far as I know, it's the stock clutch. Mine is definitely hydraulic. Guess I need to pick up a manual soon.

Check the hydraulic clutch fluid, and if low refill with CLUTCH fluid, not brake fluid or similar.

The clutch cylinders have been known to go bad on Toyota's so if it's leaking it may need to be replaced. Prominent eBay part.
