    Hi All,

I don't have a truck yet but, I'm looking at buying a new or relatively new Tacoma shortly. I hunt and fish and need something to get me there and back with all of my stuff and my dad is getting tired of me always borrowing his Dodge. Tacoma's seem to fit the bill nicely. Not too big yet, big enough to get down the trail with everything on board. I'd like a double cab long bed but, I also want a manual tranny so I'm torn since you can't get those in the long beds. For those with the shortbed, are there any times when you wished you would have gotten the long bed? Or, does the short bed do everything you need?

    Thanks,

    Bill

Welcome from the East Bay! I also have the short bed, not once did I need a longer bed and the shorter wheel base is great!

-4.88 gears -All-Pro Long Travel, Walker Evans coilovers w/reservoir in front. All-Pro Expedition leaf springs and Walker Evans LT shocks in the rear. -Relentless Fabrication sliders, front & rear bumper. -ARB Air-Locker & Compressor -Warn 9.5xp winch -All-Pro skid plate front, tranny, and transfer. -Behind the Grill 21" Light Bar from Expedition Lighting -2x2 Light Pods in front Bumper from Expedition Lighting -PIAA 510s placed in rear bumper -Grillcraft black grill. -Black Xenon CCFL Halo Projector Headlights
I have a long bed & the extra room is nice especially if you have a bed tent. I have the All-Pro expedition leaf springs and LT Walker Evans in the rear and I really can load up the bed w/ fire wood, extra water, extra fuel etc. But I sacrifice the wheel base and have almost ripped my bumper off a few times.

    Good Luck...& welcome to TW!

Well, bit the bullet today and signed papers on a new 2011 DCLB SR5 in white. I was thinking about getting a Sport but, ended up with a SR5 with the JBL package. Pretty much every option except for the Temp and compass in the over head compartment. i Kind of like the chrome better than the paint too. I got it through a broker in the South Bay so I won't be able to pick it up until next weekend so I got a good week to wait for it. Sucks!

    Congrats!! :woot:

I was in the same boat as you - pretty glad I went with the DCLB instead of the manual. Enjoy it and don't spend too much time here... its expensive. :)
