I recently acquired a 96 Tacoma with 178k miles on it. Thought I'd post my progress in bringing this truck back to acceptable condition.

When I purchased it, the truck had just received a newly built motor/new clutch along with misc other engine modifications. The list includes an aftermarket header, cold air intake and electric fans.

It ran, but the timing was off and thats how I got it. Paid 2,000 for the truck in the condition you see below.

Paint was oxidized and severely neglected, sitting on stock FJ wheels/bfg's.

I then attacked the paint to bring back some shine.

Adding a product which restores the plastic.

Added a Curt Tow Hitch along with brake controller for my trailer.

Purchased some OEM 17inch 4runner wheels to replace the fj steelies.

I wasn't happy with the look, so I negotiated a deal to swap my wheels/tires for 15's with 31inch bridgestones.

I will post interior updates/modifications shortly...along with a few more exterior changes.

I'm pretty happy with this truck so far.

I've owned an 02 Tundra, 84 4x4 Pickup, 91 2wd extended cab and now this one.

So far, this is my favorite although I do miss the room my Tundra offered. (I don't miss the 14mpg though)

Also, added a new bumper and painted the mud flaps.
