i got a 2005 base 4x2 2TRFE; one of the very first gen 2 tacos off the assembly line in fremont, ca; currentl odometer reading: 575,643 miles; yes the 2TRFE engine holds up well; best advice: use 0w-20 synthetic oil and change the oil and filter often!

original 5 speed transmission using redline synthetic gear oil; however on my third clutch and sixth rear bumper; sure wish people would stop plowing into my beloved tacoma; previous truck; 1998 toyota pick up- 22RE; 671,000 miles; I'm a delivery driver subcontractor, delivering everything from 1# boxes of medical specimens to 500# pallets of printing paper; the tacoma is the right tool for the job!
