I would prefer to have an auto. My Ranger is a stick, I'm just tired of a stick truck. I would rather have an auto for off road too.

The auto tends to get better mpg and is a bit beefier than the 6 speed according to most reviews. At 28k you're right around the price of a new one. You have 3 big choices with the 4x4. Base sr5, a lot of people choose this since it is cheaper and mod the hell out of it. Trd sport, has bucket seats, and a hood scoop (non-functional). Trd Off road, this has bucket seats and a rear locker but no hood scoop.

Oh and if you're tired of the stick in the ranger try adding another gear because when I test drove the manual it seemed like I needed to use first.

Yeah, you should always use first gear in a 5 speed, if that is what you are talking about. But a 6 speed you can use second as first.
