I just bought a 1995 Tacoma 4 cyl 2WD with just under 65K miles. I ordered parts to do a tuneup (NGK plugs and wires, filters, pcv valve, distributor cap and rotor) and wonder if it was overkill, since it has such low mileage. Nothing was ever done except blowing out the air filter.

I pulled a spark plug and there was a lot of metal left and they looked clean and dry and just a bit gray.

The NGK plugs (not Denso, had not pulled one yet to see what was original before I bought them) are that V-Power kind.

    Any comments?

    Thank you!

WOW! That does sound odd for the miles vs. age but if the previous owner was older, they tend to only use their vehicles for short, quick drives. Of course, that is just an observation/stereo type by me and not fact.

    Congrats on it though!

Well, there is no indication it does not have 65K miles (just under that) and the engine is clean and no leaks. I did not CarFax it.

I was asking about the Denso vs the NGK V-power. I went ahead and did the tuneup. The fuel filter was gunky and the contacts on the distributor needed cleaning.

With an Auto tranny it doesn't have as much power as I'd like. I may sell it and get a manual.

    Thanks for your comments.

No way, keep it , it will last you a long time. Those deals are few and far between. I bought my 1999 in 2005 with 56K. I know, not as good of a deal that you have found, but my dad has a truck that may only get 5 or 6 K a year. So those deals are out there.
