I have a 2005 Tacoma with 82000 miles. I recently went to the dealer to have the accelerator pedal modified from the recall. They informed me the throtttle body needed cleaned (79.95). I recently got a dealer coupon. For 99.99 they clean the fuel injection throttle body, pressure flush the injectors, and check the emission system. Is this worth doing? I get different viewpoints such as run a tank of 93 fuel. I generally use 97. Truck runs fine except the gas milage isn't as good, but I haven't had the plugs changed since 30,000.

Welcome to TW from SoCal! Dealerships are famous for recommending service that doesnt need to be performed. I would consider getting a second opinion. That said, it is pretty easy to clean a throttle body yourself. Simply spray throttle body cleaner into the air intake (remove air intake hose from filter housing first). Have someone on hand to press accelerator as you spray, as your rpms will drop. My mechanic friend charges something like 59.95 for this 5 minute procedure:eek:
