New to the taco world, need some advise!

    Hey guys! So I'm going to be getting my first Tacoma here in about a month and I have been doing some research and decided to make an account here to get a head start. I have a few questions, first you should know I'm looking to get a 98-03' ish extra cab. I'm leaning tward the "4 popper" but open to looking at the 6's too. Budget is $8000 or so. Is there Any year or model I should look for or stay away from? Anything else I should know?

    alot of metal, small engine, decent travel.
    caged, camburg long travel, 50t leafpack (soon to be installed) light rack over cab, 5pt harnesses etc
    from what i know the first gens are pretty solid, but make sure you check the frame for rust!!

    just make sure the timing belt/chain is replaced like it should be.

    Thanks guys! And I always mix up advice and advise, just one of those habits lol.

    I have another question, I like to do a bit of off roading and going fast so do you think the 4 cyl would be adequate? And is there some easy mods I can put on to give it some extra vroom? Really appreciate the advice thanks again
