Back tires worn out 4,000 miles

I just bought the truck, put new tires on the back, the mechanic says the wheels are pointed out as \ /. I've already replace both back wheel bearings and one bent axel. And the springs but I think that was a waste of money and time. Everything under and the whole car looks perfect, no trace of an accident. Very hard to get parts here, too.

your axle must be bent?

 

Bent housing. If it were just a bent axle, the wheel would wobble going down the road.
If the housing is bent, it's going to flex the axle shafts in the same direction all the time.

If you had a bent axle, whatever caused that likely also bent the housing. The entire rear end needs to be replaced.

Yea had one of these last year. Wore the tires out in 4000 also.
It went to two other garages until it came here.They had done alignments to it ( LOL). To confirm it i put it up on the alignment machine to get the before specs to show the customer and to check the thrust line. I replaced the housing and just used the guts out of his other unit. Was a easy diagnosis so as long as your frame isn't tweaked you should come right into alignment.

 

The rear is a straight, solid axle. The only way to get the tires pointed in different directions is if somethings bent. I agree with the posts above, your rear axle is jacked up.

OP said "truck" and his profile indicates a Taco CC, so I'd say it's not an IRS car.

 

This will completely show my lack of knowledge on Tacoma suspensions, but do these have rear struts? If so, those could be causing the problem, had that happen to me before, it will eat the mess out of your tires!!!

 

No rear struts unless it's a custom built 4-link suspension (not many of those running around). The rear suspension is a solid axle with a leaf spring suspension. The shocks are only there to dampen the ride and do not support any weight.
