Hi, I have a 2007 Tacoma double cab 4x4 with a Revtech 3 in lift and new 305/50R20 Toyo A/T tiresI have a intermittent steering shaking problem. I noticed it only after I modified the suspension and added the big tires. Feels ok most of the time but if I drive over a small bump Or uneven roads, it shakes a lot.

Can anyone tell me if this normal or do I need to check the wheel alignment, wheel balancing again.

    Update: found this link:http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/99531-steering-wheel-shake-2.html#post1910842

I will check the balancing again. I hope this works.

I have almost the same set up as you. Did you get a chance to fix the problem? Also for after market rims, there is no need for the adapters right?
    thanks in advance.

Hi, To answer your first question, the answer is no I didn't find the fix as of today. I will have to double check both the balance and alignment of all four wheels again. With the truck in the air, I will check the tie rods, rack, ball joints for excessive play. If everything checks out okay, I don't know whst is the next step? I might just accept the fact that this normal because the tires and rims are so heavy compared to the stock rims and tires.

I just figured out my gas milage since installing these rims & tires. I'm now averaging 12.9 miles per gallon compared to 16 mpg. I'm asking my self- What did I get myself into? Gas prices are record high in Hawaii. $4.35 at Costco for regular unleaded.

They are not too big, nor, not too wide. They are about 32 inches right?
I run 305/70/R16s and no rubbing with same Revtec thingy... I want something better though... :(

OP good luck man, yes i feel you on the gas mileage, i am getting little over 14, mostly on highways, and i am just about to take a somewhat long trip... its gonna suck!!!!!!

I did have to trim the front fender liners and a little off the inner fender flare corner. The ride is stiffer with the coil over spacer and add a leaf but not like I need a kidney belt or anything. That could also be the reason why the steering shakes when hitting bumps. The suspension is stiffer! I still can drive 70+ with no problem. I do use my truck so lifting another 3 inches would be a bit much for loading and unloading

If it wasn't for the wife and kids I would love to buy and install the bigger 6 in lift from Fabtech or Procomp.
