    Hello everyone. Another newb here...doing some research before purchasing an used Tacoma.

    I'm looking to find a Gen 1 as I prefer that body style and 2 door access cab. Most likely a V6 (but I'm not ruling out a I-4) and 2WD.

    1. Are there any particular problems / recalls for specific years?
    2. Anything I should pay extra attention to when checking out used Tacomas?

    This will be my first truck. My last two cars have been 2 door sports coupes. So, I'm looking forward to learning more about the off-road world and truck modifications.

    Make sure there isnt frame rust. 1st Gens were recalled for frame rust. Other than that, I love mine!

    I think some of the later models had an upper ball joint recall
    Check for rusted frames!
    Stay away from the 3.0V6 if you can
    Other than that No problems I have heard of

    I had the 2003 DC v6 and was very pleased with that truck. I was able to tow an 18' bass boat. It had an awesome resale value. I traded it for my 05 Tacoma & they gave me $1600 more than I owed in just a year or ownership.
