    Hello All.
I found this forum just after I put my 1996 Tacoma back on the road--wish I would have found the forum sooner! My name is Russ, and I bought my first Toyota, a 1983 SR5 4WD Short Bed P/U brand new in June of 1983. I drove it stock for two years and then put a Downey posi unit in the back, mounted 31 inch tires on steel rims and started on my first of many trips through the Rubicon Trail and later the Sierra Trek and Barrett Lake runs here in N. California. Those were fun years! :)

I now have a 1996 4WD Tacoma bought new in Sept 1996. It currently has 206,000 almost entirely trouble free miles on it--still has original alternator and water pump. It blew a head gasket late last year but still ran fairly well. Over the past 5 weeks it has received a new head gasket, timing chain, clutch kit and A/C compressor. Other than off-roading getting to some remote stream fishing spots, it has been a pavement pounder. It also serves as my mobile ham radio station.

    Best to all. Russ KW6T
