Cool Gas Mileage Inquiry

Hello, jhm here. I recently downsized from a Tundra to the quad cab Tacoma TRD SR5 sport 2wd and love it. I initially had 18-22mpg and installed a G-Force chip. After a couple thousand miles I noticed an improvement around town to 19, but saw highway drop to 21. However, performance wise there was a noticeable improvement under hard acceleration from 3,500rpm up. Wondering if anyone has tried the G-Force chip ? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. I love this truck...Toyota's forever !!

No chip for me but it seems you are getting just about max milage out of it.
Add some bigger heavier tires and wheels raise it up a bit and you will see a couple mpgs drop.
No understanding of what the chip does to add power or economy.

Welcome to Tacoma World. And before you hear it in a less nice way... you bought a truck, enjoy it for what it is. Your MPG is what it is.

That's about it. Driving it as efficiently as possible will help you optimize your FE, but you won't be pulling off huge numbers (but no penalty for trying). Have fun with your truck!

Hi welcome to TW
I do not know about the chips but in the intro area it is hard to get questions answered.
You have a better chance getting answers in the performance tuning area.
MPG - the best mod is the right foot mod. Keep rpms under 2k.

Right on! Driving behavior can adversely or positively improve your MPGs. Not a fan of 'chips' but most would concede that a Tuner and the tuning tables would be more advantageous than the chip.

Good luck!
