It's as though it's dropping down to 1st gear after stopping at a traffic light. I was advised of this site by a co-worker and that I should check on the the possibility of there being a Service Bulletin of some sort on this issue.

So it does it while slowing to a stop? I would check the drive line first.

My rig does the same at a full stop. I'm curious to know what this is as well. I'm hoping that it's normal for Tacomas.

Did they tell you exactly what is wrong with yours? For about half that, you can get a 1 piece.

Stealerships are just as clueless, find it hard to accept its a shaft unless its gotten bent somehow or the welded counter weights have exited...

Ugh... Known thing with tacomas, 4runners, and FJs. It is exactly what you said. The transmission down shifting to first after you stop.

No specific details as to what's wrong with the driveshaft and just want to replace it? I don't really trust the stealerships. Inspect it yourself. Look for any cracks, dents, etc.. check the u-joints and grease.
