    Hi all,

Figured I'd stop lurking around the forums and actually create a profile.

Not a current Tacoma owner yet, but I'm seriously hoping to purchase one in the next few months. I had a 1993 Xtracab 4x4 for about a year that I sold in December of 2011. Spent a bunch of time wrenching/upgrading and really fell in love with the whole truck thing. I took it to the beach for a weekend in the summer and promptly sunk it to the rear bumper in sand (thanks to a well meaning friend who didn't understand how manual hubs worked) and went off-roading locally and all that other good stuff. Also hauled a bunch of different things with it and really learned to appreciate the usefulness of a small truck.

So, that being said, I've definitely got my eye on a new Tacoma. It'll be an AccessCab and most likely a TRD Off-Road model. I'd prefer the Baja Series, but with dealer markup, I'm sure that's not exactly feasible as I'm in love with the wheel/tire combo and the ride height. However, realistically, I'm hoping to put an ARB bumper on it when they finally go into production, which means I'm going to need to most likely upgrade the suspension to handle the weight, so what good is the upgraded front end if I have to swap it out regardless? Plus I'd much prefer the truck to be quiet, so the catback would be more of a nuisance than a bonus. I'm planning on adding the TRD Beadlock Wheels and 265/75-16 BFG ATs if I don't go the Baja route. Sadly, I'm also leaning heavily towards the autotragic as my current vehicle's a 6-spd manual and while it's fun in 95% of the situations, I'll be using the truck to commute and traffic with a manual has lost it's allure over the years.

So anyways, enough rambling. I just wanted to stop in and say Hi! It's probably sad when you already have 95% of the truck planned out in your head before you've actually even driven one, right?

    Thanks everyone!

I'm stuck going to China for work next week, but the plan is when I get back to the US head down to the Toyota dealership and see what I can get.

I miss my old Xtracab so much...gotta get back into a pickup!

    Deposit placed. :)

2013 AccessCab V6 AT TRD Off-Road in Magnetic Gray Metallic.

I wept inside as I was signing for the AT (I've never owned an AT) but honestly, for my needs, the AT is the way to go.

Is it bad I've already got the mods list (and part numbers) ready to go?

    Congrats!
You will love the AT once you get used to it.
Nothing wrong with having your list ready! Enjoy it!

AT is a good choice.. the MT in these trucks are really poor.

I suppose I will love it, but right now my left foot is wondering what to do with itself.

I do agree that MT didn't seem to be the way to go. I had sat in a 6-speed at an auto show and wasn't impressed with the action of the shifter. I mean, my old Xtracab had a shifter that was merely a suggestion of where gears lied, but that was a 17 year old (at the time) truck, not something off the showroom floor.

Couple that fact, with reading about a lot of people unhappy with the 6MT, and having a daily driver with a difficult clutch that for the first time in five years I have to drive to work in traffic, and I think I'm ready to slide into an AT. :(

As long as I've got a MT as a "fun" vehicle, I'll be able to deal.

So when I put down a deposit down, the dealer said the truck should show 10/28 - 11/5.

It's still not here. Trying hard to not be impatient, but it's getting difficult. The newness of having my current daily driver dyno tuned a week and a half ago is starting to wear off.

    Blah :(

    So...

After the salesman claimed I could put together all the paperwork in a day and drive off with it, the finance guy said that there was nothing he could do until tomorrow. So, assuming all the paperwork gets done, I should be driving it home tomorrow, unless they drag their feet as I'm going to Montreal for the weekend.

So here's a teaser of the new one:

    OMG, it's so stock!

Just a quick picture of my old beloved, which kinda gives you a feel for what I'd like with the new one.

Welp, I know this probably isn't the best place to place this, but I figured I'd post up a quick picture of where I'm at now. I put on a coat of my winter wax (Collinate 845) and coated the entire frame of the truck in Fluid Film. I also debadged the "V6" logo on the tailgate.
