Just dropping in to say howdy and introduce myself and my truck.
I'm Fenwick, 19 years old, and I just bought a 1996 Toyota Tacoma for JUST $250. I jumped on this deal as soon as I found it. This poor truck does not run- the head gasket blew back in 08/09, (That's what I assume- the last inspection was November of 2008.) and the owner just let it sit for a year or so until he sold it to another guy, who simply let it sit as well. After having sat for so long, the truck no longer runs. So I rescued this ol' truck and took him home- I plan on buying a whole new block for it, but I will be taking apart the old one to familiarize myself with it/fix it up as a reserve.

The guy I bought it from also gave me a tan camper shell, a matched set of old mag rims, and four good tires- the truck is currently rocking some steelies and dry-rotted generic tires that still hold air somehow.

I'll be driving this truck to work regularly when I get it on the road. I hold three jobs- During the day, I work construction, (framing, roofing, trim work, demolition, etc.) at night, I run a newspaper route, (Virginian Pilot) and in my spare time, I collect/disassemble scrap metal and take it to the local Metal Recycling Yard, OneSteel. So this truck will be in for a lot of hard work- but he's a Yota, so I know he can handle it!

I found it on Craigslist- my neighbor had recommended using that site, and it worked for me! I think one reason that I got it and not someone else was that the guy had spelled Tacoma wrong in his ad- he put "Tocoma." So not many people saw it, I think.

Yup, this truck is going to be a great project- Lots of work to be done- under the hood, interior, and exterior. I just couldn't say no to it though- $250? Heck yes!

Aside from the blown head gasket/not running, this truck's got it's share of dings and whatnot. The interior's not too bad- a little dirty, and it's missing the driver seat headrest. The driver side marker light got smashed out in some sort of accident- the panel behind it is a little bowed because of that incident, but the hood still sits fine. The back bumper looks like it took a hit, because it sits a bit hard on the driver's side. The clear coat is bubbling/peeling in a few places, and it's got some scratches on the driver's side. But that stuff (aside from the light) won't be a problem- it's going to be a work truck, after all.

    Much thanks, all! :)
Sooner or later, I'll put up a build thread for my truck.
