My Taco 2012 V6 'pings' upon acceleration when accelerating after laying off the gas like you would after coming down a hill and then depressing gas pedal moderately. Anyone else having this issue , anyone else solved this issue?

In general this motor has a ticking noise that's normal.

Welcome from N.J. As was stated above, try the higher octane gas. I had a vehicle awhile back that did the same. I put in higher and problem solved. Good luck.

If a higher octane gas fixed it I would take it to the dealer and have them check it out. The engine computer should have detected the ping from the knock sensor and retarded the spark.

Dealer checked it out and said no msgs on computer. Using synthetic oil already. Will try higher octane but don't really want to run on high priced gas. Thanks for the posts.

Knock sensor should have detected it you should hear no ping. There is no reason it should not run on 87.
