    Hello,

Greetings from Houston, Texas! My name is Kyle.

In 2004, i received this Tacoma as a high school graduation gift. It served me well in college and remained stock, save for tint and spray-in bed liner. Never did much off-roading, maybe one or two times, since it was open diff 2wd.

Thinking i was going to move to Colorado after college, i ended up selling the Tacoma in 2010 for $10,500. I then bought a 2011 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport, only to realize i would only need the AWD on vacation. I ended up staying in Houston, getting married, buying a home and recently had a son.

    NewYear2011SkiTrip063_e9472a7936ebd1420de53f7079e0a1e153e8863b.jpg

Now, i need a truck for work as i haul chemicals and supplies for a pool business. That doesn't work well in a small hatchback, especially with a little one. I'm in the market for a Tacoma as i've had a great experience. But with my budget, i'm limited. I don't want to spend over $22. So, i'm looking at Double Cab, Automatic 4.0 V6...either a newer (2009+) TRD Prerunner or a older (2007-2010) 4x4. Not wanting to have regret, i think i'm going for the 4x4.

Hopefully within two-three months i'll be a new Tacoma owner.

Welcome aboard neighbor..............nice 1st gen, good luck with the hunt for the 2nd gen. Yes, home ownership means you need a truck, and leisure activities generally means you need a truck in addition to your job requirements. Gitcha one!

Decisions, decisions. They are harder than anticipated :-(
Options as of current. My 2011 Impreza has been appeasing for ~$14,000, give or take. I owe about $5,800 which leaves me with $8,200 in equity. I'm willing to throw in $3,000 cash on top, which leaves me with a CASH price of $11,200.

For that price, i've found 2002-2004 Tacoma double cabs with anywhere from 100,00-130,000 miles. To many? I don't know.

I've also seen 2005-2008 Tacoma double cabs with the SAME MILES for $14-15K. If i did this, i'd be financing $3-4K, something i'd rather not do, but it is a newer truck.

Would you finance for a newer truck with maybe 20k less miles than a First Gen. with no auto payment?

UPDATE: I'm a TACOMA owner again!!!
Traded in my awesome 2011 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport for a 2005 Tacoma double cab TRD in Speedway Blue. It has 99k miles and is all stock, one owner with a clean record. Got a good deal on trade in and purchase. I'm excited.
