    Hi :)

Today has proved to be pretty interesting xP and I'll try to explain myself as coherently as possible.

I have two siblings, an older sister and a younger sister. One's in college, the other high school. I'm in college as well.

My older sister, back in high school, spent two years harassing my parents that she was the only student at our high school who didn't have a car gifted to her from her parents. After literally years of daily drama, my mom caved and spent her savings on a VW Passat for my older sister.

The Passat died less than a year later, because maintenance.
My mom, heartbroken, sold it to a junk yard for $300, and gave the money to me, apologizing that I wouldn't have the same help finding a vehicle. Then she replaced my sister's car.

Two years later, I had saved up enough money from teaching music lessons to buy a car.

I own a 98 HONDA Civic, and love it to death (totally accurate, it's about to die )

Last year my dad was laid off by gov contract cuts, and while my family is managing it is quite clear that my younger sister will not even get a $300 boost to help her get independent transportation.

    --

    NOW, here's why I'm on a Toyota forum :D
Earlier today, my uncle called and told me that he'd hit a deer. The insurance company declared his truck totalled. He said that he'd rather buy it back from them for ~$200 and then sell it to me than let it get sent to a junk yard. Oh, yeah, and he drives a Toyota Tacoma!

I think this is my chance to get a vehicle for my little sister. By two weeks from now I'll either have the truck and be back here asking for advise on how to fix it, or I'll report in that things didn't work out.

Thanks for reading all of that, and I'm already pretty excited about getting this project underway!

    Thanks,
    -BBX

P.S. I apologize if this looks like a repost from another forum. I joined two of the more promising Toyota forums and copied this introduction.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

My uncle just got back to me, the price of repairing the truck professionally is $5k. I confirmed that I still want it, and should have it by sometime next week!

I don't actually know yet -_- This entire situation has been through a five minute phone call and several text messages. I know it's a 1st generation though.

This weekend I'm hoping to find time to get off campus and visit them, both to make sure he's alright, and get some details on the truck.

    Well this is disappointing :(

My uncle went back to the insurance this weekend to pick up the truck, and they changed to price of retrieving it to $2000. I can't afford that, so I have to let the truck go.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, maybe I'll be back someday ;)
