01 Tacoma ideas?

I bought a 2001 Toyota tocoma dbl cab SR5 and TRD off road packages with the rear wheel diff. lock. 138k miles well when I get on it like to get up on the interstate it sounds like my engine is gonna blow up but it drives and runs well . when it idles it sounds like its missing but whn I turn the air conditioner on it revs up a little bit and doesn't sound like its missing anymore. any ideas of what this might be?? thank you

I had an 03 Tacoma very similar to the one you just purchased, almost he same number of miles too! The 3.4 can be a little "musical" but in my experience the "notes" were never a problem. You have a Toyota, no worries!

 

Thank you is there any way i can boost the power as cheap as possible ?

 

I put on a cold air intake and a throttle body spacer but I can't say for sure how much it boosted the power. I live in Colorado where the air is thin and the mountains are steep and it seemed to do alright. These mods do make the engine louder though. Wether or not this is good or bad is up to you.
