    sorry for the dumb question, but exactly how many generations and/or facelifts has the Tacoma gone through?

    and to get it straight: a "prerunner" is a 4x2 right? if its 4x4 it's a sr5 or trd, correct? but a "prerunner" is a 4x2?

    I have an sr5, and it's 4x4. I just wanna make sure so when others are talking about their tacomas I understand the terminology

    thanks!

    Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
    Only two generations, hopefully we will see a third soon :spy: yes a prerunner is 2 wheel drive. I believe the sr5 is an upgraded package, so a 4x4 isn't necesarilly a sr5 or trd.

    okay thanks! so you could have a trd and it still be a 2wd? that kinda seems like it would defeat the purpose of having all those offroad options if it is only a 2wd.

    thanks for the info anyways!

    OME 883 front, OMD 3.5" rear, Relentless front bumper, smittybilt 9.5K winch
    trd= prerunner or 4x4
    prerunner= 2wd only but with the 4x4 suspension
    i believe the sr5 is available on all tacomas, it basically gives you upgraded interior and more chrome (?)
    the sr5 package started out as being Sport Rally 5 speed, meaning it had the manual transmission, but toyota has gotten away from that.
