I was encouraged to write an introduction note after joining today so here I am.
My first Tacoma was a new 1994 4cyl 5spd 4x4. I kept it 8yrs and put 369,000 fantastic miles on it until I bought the new 2002 I currently own. I sold the 94 for $4k to a local guy who drove it for 3 yrs before he moved out of the area and I lost track. Last we talked it had 418,000 on it and still only used a half/quart of oil per every 5k mile oil changes.
My current 2002 has 330k on it and has not matured anywhere near as well as the 94. Neither truck was/has ever been garaged. I wash, wax and detail my vehicles regularly and the 94 had ZERO interior rattles, squeaks or body /paint /finish issues. In comparison, this 02 is a bit of a disaster. It now needs roof, hood and fenders repaint. Clearcoat was apparently dismal from the factory and now virtually nonexistent and the truck is accident free. This 02 has had rust related recalls including frame, undercarriage and spare tire carrier issues. Not what I came to expect from Toyota.
Looking forward to this forum. Thanks to all in advance. . .

WOW...That's some impressive milage on both vehicles! Too bad your 02 isn't holding up as well. It seems like all car manufacturers are using inferior materials to the cars made back in the day. Unfortunate.
