I've been a Tacoma owner since late 2005, when I got a red 2005 Pre-Runner, SR5, TRD Off-Road w/ 14k miles on it. I got an awesome deal... a good friends dad worked for NUMMI in Fremont and got me the family discount on it, so I picked it up for ~$17k out the door (I think that was like $6-7k under invoice). That truck was awesome for me, but I've always wanted a 4x4 and one wasn't available on the discount lot available to me. Loved that truck!

So.... after 8 years and 125k miles....

2010 Double Cab, TRD Off-Road, 17" wheels, 43k miles. Loving it so far.

I posted a pic in another thread and asked if it looked lifted, after I mentioned that it felt/looked higher than my other truck and that I was confused about how the "big" tires on 17" wheels would fit without a lift. A few people replied and were sure it wasn't lifted.

I'm a total newb and know next to nothing about vehicle mods, so I wasn't able to tell when the car was on the lot... I just looked underneath to see if I could see anything that looked like spacers, different leaf springs than I expected, or something other than bilstein shocks. I saw bilstein under there, I asked the dealer if the truck had aftermarket suspension (he said no) and I figured "OK, this truck just looks bigger" or maybe there's something w/ the 2010 I didn't know about.

Another look underneath, and I saw the words Toytec... so now I'm assuming I've probably got the Toytec 5100 kit on there?

I can stick some pics up later, so maybe one of you can enlighten me. :)

Anyway, I'm heading up to South Lake Tahoe this weekend and will get some light off-roading in on the way to one of my favorite running trails! Love the new truck and can't wait to put it on some dirt this weekend!

Also, I bought the truck from a Toyota dealership and I'd love to get a little bit of $$ back from them for lying about it not having aftermarket suspension (not that I mind it :) )... do you think I have a shot in hell?

Nice, Benson X... I use the same name in fantasy football leagues and some people asked if it was the Pac Man sound. Fozzie all the way.

Eibach springs in front on 5100s (what I have as well) and 5100 rear shocks. I don't think you have an AAL so I'd say the 5100s are at 0 setting so about 1.5" front lift. Looks great!

Thanks! yeah, doesn't seem to be an AAL.

So these are an upgrade (as far as performance, etc) over the stock TRD set, right?

I definitely love the lift and being able to fit the larger tires/wheels.

I'm also planning on canceling my extended warranty, since this'll void at least some if it and toyota a never break anyway (knocking on wood).

    Love the super white.

I don't think this is necessarily true. From my understanding, lifts and suspension mods only void the warranty if they're found to be the cause of mechanical failure. Definitely research the issue further.

    Welcome!

Thanks, cool... I called the dealership and asked if it would mess with the warranty and he reassured me that it won't. Of course I didn't believe a word that came out of his mouth. I've researched it more online and I think you and the dealer are correct. He said they only blame things on the lift if it's over 4" or so.

I guess I'll keep the warranty, just in case I ever run into that front diff/ball bearing/shaking issue that I've read VERY LITTLE about.
