I am not so new to Tacoma's, but I just bought a brand new 2013 TRD Sport. This marks my 5th Toyota and my first brand new off the lot Toyota. I won't say I am an enthusiast, but I have a rather bias opinion of Toyota over all other manufacturers. My 1987 Supra Turbo, bought it with 230k+ KMS never had a major issue (typical road wear is nothing). Due to a job loss and a chance at further education, it was sold for peanuts. However, the education led to a much higher paying job to which I bought an 06 Tacoma TRD Sport, Speedway Blue. After 2 years of ownership and nearly 70k kms, it met an untimely demise in an accident which left it as a total write-off, still, with the odo reading nearly 200k kms, the only things done to it was a wheel bearing change. Next purchse (1 year post accident) was a 93 Supra, awesome car, turned heads, sounded great, every teenage kid had their phone out to snap pics of it when I parked it in town. Was an impulse buy, phenominal car, worked like a dream, but winters in Atlantic Canada are harsh, moreso like a relentless bitch mother-in-law. It's either mild, roads are great with 2-3 major snowfalls, or as cold as an ex girlfriends' stare, and the December snowfall melts in April, so the Supra was traded in towards an 07 Tundra, 5.7L TRD Offroad. Now, I only travel to and from work, no offroading, I don't have a camper, a race car, a space shuttle. For what I use a vehicle for, the Tundra was overkill. Don't get me wrong, it'd pass anything but a gas station, and once upon a time a Hemi owner tried to pass me... Anyway, I missed my old Tacoma, for the places it could go, for how reliable it was and great on mileage, I figured it best to go back to something I know. After my accident with my previous Taco, I am all for 4x4 with some rear weight.
