new 2014 toy hauler. first new vehicle! some questions about warranty

Hi,
I just bought a 2014 v6 4wd access cab with sr5,entune plus and towing package.
I need something to haul my dirtbikes!
I'm super-excited! This is my first Toyota, new vehicle and truck ever
I've been wanting a truck for a while. I traded in my honda accord with 190,000 miles on it. I bought it used from by brother with 20,000miles on it. That was a nice vehicle, but my needs have changed and it was getting a bit long in the tooth....

The 2014 have a really kewl touch screen that I like.
I'm looking forward to some snow (for once) to see what the 4wd can do. It's a smooth and quiet ride, too, in my opinion.

I was thinking about getting the Toyota extended warranty.
I may email jerry johnson @ midwest toyota. Is that still legite? Seems so....
How reliable are the new fancy computers/electronics, like the touchscreen? I guess no one knows since they've relatively new. The engine has been around for a while, no concerns there, but I'm thinking it may be nice to have a warranty for all the other stuff.
Also, do I have to get the truck serviced at the dealership once the Toyota Care expires? Would it void my warranty? I've been going to an independent mechanic for a long time to service my honda and he does toyota too.

nice truck, the 14' silver color looks nice, I was eager to see how it looked in a taco.

 

I would definately get a warranty on at least the electronics just because they are so expensive to replace and stuff does go wrong with the stock head units (radio and stuff). Sharp truck! You should be very pleased!

Really liking the new silver! Wasn't a fan of the silver streak mica. Kept seeing Tundras with the silver sky metallic and wondered what the Tacoma would look like. Nice truck.

First off J Johnson is still there and selling the Extended Warranties ... I just emailed him yesterday. Also from personal experience the Extended Warranties are a great "insurance Policy" against repairs (I chose the Platinum) ... I had a Corolla that needed a wheel speed sensor assembly at around 72K in miles and it was $845 for the thing ... and each wheel has one. The extended Warranty covered it all. When you consider how many electronics are in the vehicles anymore it's worth it (just my opinion, ymmv). Enjoy your new Truck!!
