Sounds like he wants you to drop some money in to a 6" DB lift, tell him to go f$%@ himself and go somewhere else, IMO.

Assuming you mean "more than 4 inches in front and 2.5 in back."

First question: 1.75" should not be harmful, although it does put a lot of preload on the springs. It will ride rough, especially if you have the Off Road progressive springs. Personally, I would not use more than 0.85" on non-progressive stock springs, and no preload on progressive springs. That is personal preference, though, and it should not be harmful to the truck.

Second question regarding lift heights: What they most likely mean is alignment issues and CV axle angles on the front lift. Unless you also change out UCA's, anything over 3" in front will be near impossible to align properly. CV axle angles will not be ideal and they may wear slightly faster, but again, not what I would consider harmful.

For the rear, the driveshaft angles will change and may cause vibrations. Carrier bearing drop and/or angled axle shims can be used to reduce vibration issues. Again, maybe not ideal, but not really harmful.

In the end, if you are happy with the results, none of these things would really be harmful. Just be aware of what you might run into and have realistic expectations.

above 3 inches will need a UCA to allign, your cv angles will be worse, but just dont go over 3 and you will be fine

I've got Billy's on all four corners. The front are set at 1.75 on stock springs. I also have airbags on the rear.

The ride is excellent! It soaks up every bump on the road without a bounce .. definitely not rough or stiff. Would recommend this setup for anybody.
