i don't know if i am in the right section or not...brand new here.
I bought an 09 taco a few months ago and love the truck but hate, absolutely hate the wheels. I am learning, that buying new tires and wheels is darn near impossible. I was originally planning on lifting it but my mechanic talked me out of it since it's not 4 wheel drive. ( and then he proceeded to make fun of me)
my original question was how do l know which rims will fit. I am looking at the pro comp 52-5765 which is 15x7 (current rims are 15x6) pro comps offer 3.75, 2.5 or 4.5 back spacing?? which if any will work on my truck? and an aggressive tire like cooper SST's 235/70/15 or 235/75/15??? don't know if either will work with no mods. the SST may be too aggressive for my driving conditions but i love the stance of a taco with bad ass tires.

but then I saw the exact same model truck as mine, only it is a 2012 and it has 245/75/16 wheels and tires. the truck looks exactly the same as mine except for the tires. can i just use this as a model and purchase that size tire with no mod's? I guess the question is, are these interchangeable or will going that big cause problems?

    Tires, for now
My 98 4 banger. Just put new tires on, which I think really improved the look. Looking to put some bilsteins on in the future. Thinking about doing headers and a CAF next summer as well. The next project is going to be blacking out the rims though.

Here's the new pic a couple of days after I drove her home and then the recent mods I just had done.
New Airies steps, Leer Cap w/ surf rack, bug guard, rain guards, partial debadge on tailgate (took off tacoma and V6; will be blacking out tacoma on sides, gate and SR5 once its nice out again)
Oh ya, and matching infant seats in the back!

What do you think? I'd love to get new tires, but gonna wait until the originals are toast. $2k for the mods listed above, so gotta save up some before doing anything else.

I'm debating on blacking out the fender flares. Suggestions? I do like the mix of black and chrome, though
    Aloha

Bought a new 2012 Tacoma Double Cab a couple of weeks ago. It's my third Tacoma but haven't had one in years. Enjoying reading posts on this site, good insight!

I started with a carolla, then an SR5, 1st Gen Taco in 98 (My son still drives it and it's pictured with my 2011 wheels) and now I am the proud owner of a 2011 Prerunner Sport. Just put the 17" inch fuel boost's on this past weekend with 265-70-17 Nitto Crosstek, and it's amazing. 1.5" leveler on front, no lift. I owe all the TacomaWorld Members a major thanks on the help with my selections, Toyota owners are special peeps, keep up the good work!

    Greetings.

I'm in the process of purchasing my first taco. I've been a longtime classic bronco guy, but with two kids now, momma said she wants something safer and with a/c.

Quick question - Debating between a sport and off road model. Should I go with the off road because of the locker. I like to wheel...

Thanks in advance. Been following along now for a couple months. I feel I'm in a good spot.

Hi, new here and just got home from dealer, 06 SR5 4cyl 5spd man. 93k miles Gave a little more than I wanted to but hoping it lasts me several years. Haven't owned a manual transmission pickup for several years but figured with the 4cyl it wasn't a bad idea. I do occasionally tow a trailer loaded with a compact tractor. And yes I let them talk me into the 2yr/24k mile extended warranty.
