Long time lurker, first time poster!

I am an expectant father of a 2014 Tacoma (7594/OC/TW/EE) in Silver Sky Metallic. :D This has proven to be quite the task locating. It's like a unicorn in Southern California dealerships. Everyone knows what it is, just no one has it or it shows up in the inventory, yet can not be found on the lot. :(

Firstly, I have thoroughly enjoyed some of the epic threads. Can't wait to get into some stucks of my own and new adventures. If there are any SoCal and/or I.E. folks, would love to get in touch and find out what's what around these parts.

This will be my daily driver and weekend rover for snow, mountains, desert fun stuff. Not really into the whole mud thing although, it won't keep me from Point B. I volunteer with some local groups in the mountains doing forestry work and this will be a pack mule for tools and bodies to keep the mountains safe and accessible for all of us to enjoy. I am dirt loving, tree hugging individual. I am a Eagle scout, environmental engineering (chemistry) student, landscape and nature photographer, and love love love me some backpacking.

Plans right now are just a stock build with a bed cap, and will be adding HIDs, weather tech mats and the dog backseat mod. Any suggestions, please shout em out!

    Happy New Year!
    Shawn

Yup, it's official. Took delivery tonight! Didn't realize how much I missed driving a truck. Previously was driving a sports coupe and a corolla roller skate (great car, seriously).

Speaking of new and shiny and overly protective mode. Any tips for wear-in?? I know the usuals, easy on the brakes, no stupid rpms/burnouts, etc. It's a Toyota, so it doesn't really break in till 100k...just sayin.

Drive it like you stole it for the first 500 miles. Change oil at 500( the first 500 is where the pistons and rings will wear and seat into the block ) then just drive normal after that. This is what I've done with all my vehicles

Getting slightly off topic, but do Tacomas need break in oil? Is that already done at the factory or not needed since its a totally new engine? I have done this previously with rebuilds on American, mainly Chebby/Ford blocks.
