    Evening,

Currently looking at double cab 4x4 Trd off road tacomas. My question is were is the Tacoma made, or at least parts made/assembled. I want to stay away from the word Mexico.

    Thank you,

Our trucks are either assembled in the US or Mexico. You can search VIN's to figure out where they were assembled.

I bought mine a couple weeks ago and I I believe it is made in Plano Texas. I did not even know they had 2 assembly locations. Glad I have US built truck just for reasons a few Americans have employment. Doubt very much Toyota would allow quality drop off regardless of asembly plant. It is so hard to to buy everything American in todays global economy but we all should think like you also.

If the first number of the VIN is 1 it was made in the USA, if the first number is a 3 it was made in Mexico.

I have a Mexican built tacoma and I have no reason to doubt it's build quality or reliability. It's been a great truck so far.

Also, regardless of the final assembly point, I believe that ~70% of all Tacoma parts are made in the US. Which is more than most domestic pickups. :D

Mine has made in Texas written on the door. They do make a lot of parts in the United States as well. There is a factory about 2 miles from my house that makes Toyota parts.

Mine's a 5 too. But I assume that it's made in Texas because it's written on the door.

Thank you for all the comments. So based off the last post 5= Texas in the beginning of the vin. Every Tacoma I looked at started with 5.

Of course if I wasn't a Tacoma die hard, Ford is/was my alternate simply due to simple good business. Ford Did NOT take any bailout money!
Would not be a raptor ever...F150 v8 crew cab, only viable option.

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT; Raptors go fast in a straight line and are marketed to kids with over compensating / spoiling parents. (JMO)

Mine's California too, except for the clutch, that is Mexican and burned like a TORTIA at 21,000 miles. SI! The defective stereo is also a Mexican made mistake.

On my 1st gen VIN, the first character (numeric) indicates the assembly plant COUNTRY and the last letter character (right before the six-digit serial number) indicates the assembly plant CITY.
