    Hi,
Have a leak on the passenger side of a 4.0 L V-6. Just wondering if the heads can be removed without dropping the transmission? Can I do the head gaskets without taking the engine out? Only 152,000 kilometers on this engine. I can see the coolant leaking out from the edge of the head gasket. Seems to leak when the engine is cold. How much to do this at the dealer?
    Thanks for any advice everyone.

An EXTERNAL head gasket is really unusual. Are you SURE that it's not leaking from elsewhere and settling there? Get an inspection mirror and look around before you start tearing into the motor. Do you also have water in your oil? Is there steam exiting your exhaust?

Seeping out around the edge of the gasket. Not burning any, not enough to smell in the exhaust anyway.Anyone on here ever change the head gasket on one of these engines?
