I'm still shopping for a new truck to pull my 22' pontoon boat around. I'm targetting this fall to get a 2015 - Tachoma is at the top of a very short list.

Tacoma's certainly have a loyal following demonstrated here. How about the dealerships? Do you return to the dealer for standard maintenance (oil changes and such) ? Are you pretty happy with your dealer (the shop mostly)? I'll tell you, I had an "experience" with a Ford dealer in my youth and I'll never buy a Ford again (and I'm 65 now!).

    thanks, Larry

    Welcome.
Most new toyota's come with toyota care which is free maintenance for 2 years/24k miles. I wish I had done the maintenance myself because something was wrong with my truck after every visit (scratches, dings, not draining the old oil before adding new...). These trucks are very easy to work on so my advice is do it yourself.

Larry welcome to TW from Oxford, Mississippi.

Shawn speaks the truth. On this Tacoma I've had every 5,000 mile service accomplished by a dealership. In the 72,000 it's been serviced at the same dealer except twice. The service, as on other recent products from VW, BMW, Ford & Acura I've owned is hit or miss.

Ya know, in my younger days I used to ALWAYS do my own oil changes. Then one day, something didn't go smoothly and I had oil all over my hands and had to go back in the apartment for something - and that was when my big ALL WHITE Sammoyed decided she needed lots of attention from daddy.

We were both such a mess.

After that, I started taking it to one of those "quicky" places, then getting one of those packages, I started taking the car just to the dealer. On the plus side, going to the dealer, you're building a record and IF something does go wrong you can point to it and show that you've done your part.
