Haven't bought it yet, but want to ask all you seasoned owners, what should I get? Towing package for our side by side or TRD off road package. Hypothetical question, if you had it to do all over again, what would you do different:confused:

Probably get me another hybrid...this gas mileage is BAD! Not for a truck, but compared to what I had...half the mileage. I knew this going in, but now sort of wished I had not made the move. The truck is 9 plus year old design with the exception of the radio and much higher than it was when it came out new.

Get the one you want or you will, regret it. If towing get the tow package. Get he v6, I think it is sluggish but supposedly way better than the foru cyl.

Hello and welcome to the forum. You'll find all of the archived discussions possible for the Tacoma right here at TW.

As for me, I tow a light trailer and came upon the situation where my 2-wheel drive Tundra couldn't get me where I wanted to launch my jet ski. I got pretty much the base model DCSB SR5 4x4. It has the 4.0 (the sluggish talk baffles me, it seems strong to me), tow package, and whatever the tech package is that gives me the entune/gps/bluetooth/steering wheel controls. I just didn't need/want anything else or I would have gotten a TRD Off Road.

They aren't cheap, but they hold their value like no other truck built.

I'm very happy with the fuel mileage. I assume it will probably gradually rise, and the 3 tanks I've run so far have included a lot of idle time launching my ski and sitting in major fatality accident highway closures. I think it will land around 20 mpg by the 3rd or 4th month. 25% better than my Tundra.

Why don't you get the tow package and the trd or?

I'm not sure you can even get a trd in my area without the tow package
