    Hey guys,

I am new to the site and have to "introduce" myself. I have had Tacoma's for some time now, I have owned three of them. Love the truck. I am in need of a new clutch so i just ordered the URD stage III kit. It just arrived at my house today. Looks like i have me a weekend project coming up!

To be honest I have less than 20 miles on it so far. I don't drive far for work everyday; less than 25 miles a day. The pedal is a bit stiffer than before, but doesn't bother me. It feels like it has much more grabbing and holding power. The truck accelerates faster with the light weight steel flywheel. Of course so far this is all from the "butt dyno" Can't wait to really play.

I am also interested, I have the stage 3 sitting in the house with TOB upgrade. Waiting for it to cool down a bit. How many miles were you at when you replaced the clutch?

Will do. The truck just broke 87k when I parked it for the clutch job. One thing that I did change out was the hydraulic line going to the slave. I got rid of the clutch accumulator assembly. I think this may have something to do with the stiffer pedal feel.

My TOB was chirping, which I dealt with for over a year. I just kept driving the truck like this and then the disc started to wear thin. Could feel in the pedal that there was not much left on the disc. Going four wheeling and backing up trailers into the driveway I know I had burnt the disc more than once. When I removed the old disc I was really close to grinding on the rivets.

I was in Telluride this past July on Black Bear Pass (bottom of pass near bridal veil falls). You have to turn around on a switch back turn. Being a few feet away from the ledge, and expecting to move in reverse, the truck rolled forward. Just another sign that I was in need of a new clutch.

I meant the accumulator assembly, is being able to almost push the clutch pedal to the floor a sign?

Mis communication on that last one lol.

I took out the assembly because I did not disconnect the slave from the transmission. I disconnected the top line from the master cylinder to the accumulator. When I was re assembling everything I cross threaded the accumulator. It was cheaper to bypass it than to order stock parts from Toyota. I also next day aired the parts I needed. My local Toyota dealer could not get the parts for five days.

I asked Steve (Gadget) at URD if this "accumulator" is necessary. He said that they do not use it for their twin disc set ups and that it is not needed for the single disc.

Ahhh I see well smart thinking, so it wasn't permanent just temporary till you got the new parts.

I am not 100% sure on that. I purchased a 6' stainless steel braided line and the correct fittings. I believe they are 10mmx1.0; total with next day shipping was just under $80. Toyota wants $133 for the accumulator. So to be honest I don't think I will be putting this back on the truck. I have 43 miles on the new set up and can't really tell a difference with it not being there. I assume that the clutch pedal would feel stiffer with or w/o it.

Taco084gb just sold his competition stage III (I have the URD stage III) because he did not like how stiff the pedal felt. I asked him if he removed the accumulator like I did and he did not. I assume the stage III's are similar.

    Fittings were 10mmx1.0 to AN4.

I would not have done the bypass either if I didn't mess up the threads. Why spend more $$$ if you don't have to. Since I was in a pickle this route was cheaper and easier than stock. The truck drives perfectly fine with or w/o it. Weight reduction 101.

All right guys. I have 400 miles on the clutch and loving it so far. First thing is the pedal is a bit stiffer. The clutch grabs instantly and holds, I have only tested this backing into the driveway. The real test will be off road. Smooth engage and disengage, everything feels solid when grabbing gears. Acceleration is better than stock, pulling through every gear is much faster. It's a shame that our trucks come with "cheap" parts, I wish I would have done this upgrade a long time ago.

The short shift from URD is also a nice added bonus to the upgrade. Feels like a brand new truck!!!:headbang::burnrubber:
