    That's right, two.

Circumstances changed. I'm a Toyota religious convert - after seeing how they hold up, virtually every model. I went from commuting 35 miles each way every day, to working in a small Western town where work is three miles from where I'm at.

So, the Yaris went. In stages...first, as an Eastern transplant, I just had to avail myself of the bargains in rust-free vehicles here in the West. I bought a 1999 Tacoma. Two-wheel drive, which here is not in demand. A thousand under Blue Book.

GREAT truck. Put about eight thousand miles on it, and according to NADA and KBB, it's actually APPRECIATED in value.

I took the (unsaleable) Yaris (nobody wants it out here; it's a youthful town with money) and traded in on a 2015 4x4 Tacoma. So now I have two...frankly, don't see a reason to sell either.

Searchin' for that pot o' gold, at the end of the rainbow.

It's a long story...started with my not getting settled in a solid line of work; and then when I DID...I'm now a career railroader...I picked the absolute WRONG time to tell my bosses to go to the Devil.

    That was 2008.

I got started in railroading when I was in Denver...I was a truck-driver, working for a contractor for the D&RGW. Which also did work for the BN, and had me in northern Montana. That work, and parental illness, got me in with an Eastern railroad, direct-hire, with Conrail.

Which was purchased by some ignorant Florida crackers who call themselves CSX. When they got too nasty to endure, I told them to go pound salt and slammed the door.

I heard this hissing noise. I broke something; it was the air leaking out of the economy. Since then, I've been last-hired-first-released on four major railroads.

I'm hoping this is the last stop before I retire.

I'm hoping that they do hold their value! I like my new TRD Sport quite a bit, and plan to keep it many years. My Camry before this truck didn't seem to hold it's value all that well! Maybe because they're are so freeking many of them on the road. I had it nine years and put only 40995 miles on it. I sold it with new brakes, and 2 year old tires, and was pretty disappointed at the little value it held. The Stealership told me that my truck should have a three year residual value of like 29,000.00 ~ We'll see! I usually keep my vehicles a pretty long time anyways, so the short term value won't matter to me much. I'll probably keep the truck like 12-15 years unless I find that it's a true, Lemon! Or TuRD! I mean! So far it's a pleasant ride to drive. Let's all hope they perform as solidly as Toyota's reputation for these trucks and the rest of their line-up!
