I think this is the introduction forum. I hope so. I have had my 09 Tacoma PreRunner Access Cab since 2011. I use it as my personal vehicle and for service calls. I am retired but now a clockmaker. My previous career was basically as an electromechanical designer. I enjoy doing a lot of my own automotive repairs and improvements. My first "electrical" job was installing a radio in my first car, a 1933 Plymouth 4-door sedan, bought in 1955. There were no radios made for this car, so I found a radio from a '38 Ford and mounted the radio power supply on the firewall along with the radio control part under the dash over the steering wheel column. The "electrical" part I did was hooking up the antenna. I did some exploring and found a prefect solution. The tops of these cars were not all metal. The very top was a hole which was most of the top. There were oak stringers mounted from left to right with chicken wire stretched over them and a cotton batting over the chicken wire. Over that was a type of canvas impregnated with a combination paint/tar substance and sealed all around. Under it all was a fabric headliner. I checked the chicken wire with an ohmmeter and it was not grounded. So I hooked the antenna cable from the radio to the chicken wire it was a super antenna. Better reception than any of my friends cars!

I am interested in some of the maintenance posts I have seen and converting my radio by adding an aux connection for my android. I look forward to sharing ideas with everyone.
