Hey all. Just joined tacoma world after picking up a 98 4x4.
Apparently some people do NOT maintain their vehicles lol!
I bought it knowing it needed help, fun for me.
so here is the my next challenge. I need to replace the oil pan gasket. From the reading I have been doing the front diff etc has to be removed. If I can get some beta on removal of the drive shafts It would be very helpful. It has manual locking hubs.
I have replaced drive shafts on other vehicles none 4x4 though.
    thanks in advance.

Can't help you OP but go up to the forum list (top left) and find some threads there. That would be a better place to ask as well. Welcome to TW!

I did a quick search on here, from what I read quickly, it appears you do have to remove the diff on your year truck. Didn't see any write-ups or pics to help. I'd advise getting a Chilton's or Haynes Manual from a auto-parts store and go from there. I've come to prefer Chilton's personally, but either should have the procedures with pictures to point you in the right direction.

Good luck and enjoy your new (to you) truck.

    Welcome to TW!
