I have the 07 TRD Offroad DBL cab 4wd with locking rear diff. I have had the truck less than a month and just tried to lock the rear diff in while sitting on the driveway. I turned it on and the liht just blinked and blinked. It never was just steady indicating it never locked. Any sugestions?

On the 2010 OFF ROAD TRD you need to be in 4 wheel drive LOW for it to lock

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
I concur with prior posts, correct you have to me moving in 4WD low under 5MPH to engage it, and it disengages if you come out of 4WD low. Bummer because it really reduces the potential applications for this awesome feature.

In the Pre-runner models the same feature can be engaged and disengaged at will.. since they lack a 4WD system.

The good news is that there is a simple DIY mod to rectify this and remove the arbitrary limitations on your locker... look for it under "cheap Mods" posts.

I got my Radio Shack relay last month already and did it myself on my 2007 in about 1 hour, but have yet to get out where I can really test/try out... now that's a bummer

Not just 2010, but my 2005 and 2001 were all the same... to lock the diff. you must be in L4, totally stopped when you press the RR Diff Locker switch... light begins blinking or will go solid... begin driving, if it was blinking it should go solid. Repeat if it fails to stop blinking.

Fortunately, the 2009 and new Tacoma Off Roads have A-TRAC... engages easily and may be better than the rear locker for overall traction enhancing! I challange anyone with A-TRAC to use it instead of the rear locker for steep climbing or getting through a difficult situation. The locker is there IF you need to add it to what A-TRAC does.
