I bought a 2009 Tacoma SR5 reg cab 4x4. It was hit in the front end and the steering air bag is blow and the seat belt will not retract.

I saw a web site where you can send in your seat belt retractor and hardware and they will fix so it works as from the factory for $65.

While reading though it talks about the number of gas charges seat belts are equipped with, So do I need to replace the gas charge equipment or just retractor stuff?

    Any help would be appreciated....

You might get a better response if you posted in the 2nd gen section.

I was not aware that the seat belt system had gas charges.

I use the site called myairbags.com

I've used them several times. You will have to get the SRS ECM reset too. They get $50 for each seatbelt rebuild and $50 for the ECM.

send these in and they will have tbem back in 3days.

There is a steering wheel bag for sale in the market place section.

One other thing you may need to replace. The spiral coil in the steering column may need to be replaced. You have a 50%chance this is undamaged. Most likely the air bag wire connectors are burnt too. They are cheap.

after belt retractors are actually explosively activated. The has from the explosive spins them tight in an accident.
