Tonneau Cover

I just got my first Tacoma and I'm looking for recommendations on a reasonable but good Tonneau cover. I'm thinking rolling cover. Suggestions are appreciated.

I like the BAKflip covers personally. They have different variations of it but they all flip in three 3 segments. Solid as can be! Check it out!

I'm also looking for a tonneau -- and I've been looking at the BAKFlips. Does anyone have a good reason to choose either the Fibermax or the G2 over the other? They appear to be the same price.

I love my BakFlip G2. I don't have any point of comparison but I don't think anybody who owns this one would be disappointed.

 

So I just bought my first Tacoma from my coworker. I now have a 2011 double cab long bed trd. sport rwd. I am shopping tonneau covers and am leaning towards a tri fold style, I am between the bakflip G2 , extang and the G4 Elite Fold a cover. I have been a car owner my entire life until now so I am already missing having a "trunk" to keep random stuff in. The most important part of the tonneau for me is to Lock valuables in the bed and ease of removal if I need to use the whole bed. Please let me know your recommendations.

If somebody wants into your bed, they will get in eventually no matter what lock you get. You can deter people by getting a pop and lock tailgate lock. The tailgate is the part that can add the most security.

I'm not knowledgeable about tonneau covers but I can light up those dark beds.

 

That's awesome. Are they hard to install?

Highly recommend Matt's LED bed lights. I have them and they work great!

As far as the cover, take a look at the Extang Solid-Fold and Tri-Fold. It really depends on what your use of the bed is and what fits you best. Lots of choices out there.

 

Are they hard to install?

 

I highly recommend the Fold-a-Cover G4 Elite. Have one on my current truck and love it. IMO, way more stout and better constructed than a Bakflip. If you want a rolling soft cover, I was very happy with my Access LE on my Tacoma.

I bought a Truxedo Roll-Up Cover off Amazon. Simple, efficient, and worth the $250 price tag. Easy to install yourself. I don't care for the metal clamps that now exist on the sides (these are used to secure the frame to the truck), but it doesn't hinder storage capability. I have noticed that to get the cover tight, the velcro (hook and loop) fasteners on the cover don't line up 100% with the rails. So only about half of the velcro is connected if that makes sense.

 

Just bought the G4 Elite today, cant wait to install it. How long does it take to ship?

 

Mine only took a couple days to ship.
