replacing the shifter bushing in a -01 tacoma... I tried to post, but after i tried a few times I realized I need a mod to allow it.

I cant get the cap off the shifter cap (spring loaded thing) and was wondering if there was some trick or tip to use, because this thing is not budging.. I cant even get it to compress to spin it

    Thanks 98.

I figured out what I had to do, I just can't do it.
that picture makes it look like you just push and turn like a medicine bottle.

I think I almost broke my thumb pushing down on that thing and it didnt budge.

I tried a wooden stick, a socket, LOTS or harsh language. and nadda.

I just cant get that thing to budge, and it kind of sickens me that I'll have to take it to a dealer to pop off some stupid cap that Toyota has made for 20+ years, and has had problems with for 20+ years, and there are still some asinine way to get this thing off.

    just venting... sorry.

Yeah, that's all you do. Are you turning it the right way? You have to push it down pretty far I think.

I cant even get the thing to move down a millimeter, let alone get to the step where I am supposed to turn it.

BTW why does everyone have the same avatar?
