    Hey everyone!

I've had my '09 regular cab base model in Timberland Mica for about a week now. Nothing fancy, 5 spd., bench seat, etc..

I traded a 1997 Nissan XE pickup for it. Actually went through the "cash for clunkers" program but after the deal was done, the EPA changed the MPG of the Nissan and it was no longer qualified for the program. The dealer did some fancy footwork and I got the Taco at the same out the door deal as was the cash for clunkers deal.

After it was all said and done I got a smokin' deal on it. I'd post the number but I'm afraid there would be a lynch mob at my door within an hour. :) The dealer had pinstriping put on and put on some chrome wheel covers which were the first things to come off when I got it home. I'm thinking of painting the steel wheels to try to match the grille.

I'll try to get some pics up soon. The only mod so far is an Escort radar detector.

    Thanks for the welcomes.

Yeah, even though it's the base model it does have air, sliding rear window, sill protectors, daytime running lights, floor mats. So it does have some options. As a bonus it did come with a flaky radio and the reduced load capacity sticker. The truck was built in 7/08 in California.

I'm currently looking at a Toyota branded box that's on Craigslist. Hopefully I can eyeball it soon and see how it's been mounted. It would be nice if it's been installed using the rails instead of drilling the bed.

We did buy an extended warranty which we probably shouldn't have done. Normally we flat out refuse any extended warranty but for some reason my wife ok'd this one. :notsure:

Well, I kinda messed them up a bit trying to find a good color to paint the wheels.

Actually the process worked out well:

    1. hit 'em with some 220 and 600 grit sandpaper
    2. spray on a couple of coats of the chosen color
    3. if you don't like the color, hit 'em with the pressure washer and start over again.

FWIW Valspar Graphite in the rattle can looks good with the Timberland Mica.

I didn't mean to imply anything wrong with a base model. This one suits my needs perfectly. Plus, $13.500 out the door suits the budget also.

I am seriously considering the XRunner wheels. I like how they look. I'll need to save my pennies though.

I didn't take offense at all. I got a smoking deal on my X-Runner rims. I just put a post on here that I wanted to buy a set and about a week later I had a guy in Houston wanting to sale a set. I ended up getting five rims for $400 so not a bad deal. They are alot better then what I had on it before.
