Nu 2 the Tacoma line, bought a used 1996, 5 lug, 2.4 liter, 5 speed, extra cab very stock 4 now.

Owned 2 Hi luxes, 81 and 87 both bought used and served me well. The 81 for 19 years, the 87 had for 7 years and gave to my cousin still running strong. Both bodies rusted out b4 the motors did. Still have the 81 motor and trans only 73,000 miles on it still not broken in. The 87 had 219, 000 miles its body was rusting out 2. Got tired of getting rained on.

To the Tacoma I hope to add a 3" lift and tires and rims to complement it, 4 a start.

Also have a 1974 CJ 5, w/43,000 miles. Small blk 304 V8, power steering, full cage, headers etc., etc.

Welcome to TW, good stories about the Hi-lux's. Sounds like you have plenty o experience with Toyota. I met a guy who lived outside Corning NY who had 319,000 miles on his truck, body in bad shape, no mechanical work done on the engine (save tune ups). I am hoping to have a good story like that some day.
