Cool Have Tacoma. Will Travel...

Hello from Houston (for now )!

I am new to TW. I had owned many vehicles, but last year I bought my wife a 2006 Rav4 Sport 4x4 V6. I was EXTREMELY impressed with it's power, comfort, economy, useability, and reliability! So impressed that I decided to upgrade from my car to a Tacoma. On New Years Day the Toyota dealership made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Now we are a Toyota Family - my wife, myself, and our 3 dogs (2 copilots and a sleeper).

I look forward to learning more about my truck and talking about yours too.

I do have an initial question (reason I found this site) - Where can I get an inexpensive folding hard tonneau cover for my AccessCab?

I hope you all had an awesome New Year!

Congrats on your new truck, the Toyota dealers really love to have a family with a few Toyota vehicles in it.
I recently bought a 06 Taco, acc cab, SR5, V6,6spd 4x4 and the dealer did talk to us about a new car also. It all fell on deaf ears as our other vehicle is a nice awd Subaru, that runs well.
In my Mass. area, we do have lots of Taco trks, the favorite seems to be a four door, auto, V6 TRD pkg. Lots of Rav4's too. SUV's/gas hybrid cars and many Camry's. New England is certainly Toyota country.
Don't forget pictures of your truck.

I really love my truck, though at the moment it is stock but would like to put some step bars on it and get it ready for spring bass fishing.

And now for a lengthy response...

Thanks for all your welcomes!

I will have to take some photos of my truck this weekend. Since I got it on New Years Day and worked the rest of the week, I haven't had any time to take pictures - that and it has been raining here .

Jeff,

I don't blame you on the Subaru. I had a 94 Legacy wagon 5spd AWD 2.2 boxer in high school in Colorado. It drove like a sports car on rails even in the snow, and it hauled anything! I gave it to my little sister, and she still drives it. It has over 200K on it now and resides in the mountains of North Carolina.

As far as Mod's go on my truck - I think I am going to stick to the stock config with three (maybe four) additions.

*I need to get the front windows tinted. I have the security glass in the back, but the front needs a little tint. I make trips from New Mexico to Florida and I like staying cool. Yes, I am still a Colorado boy at heart.

*I am taking my old MP3/CD receiver out of my old car and putting it in the truck. I have a dash kit coming from Crutchfield.com right now. please get here soon

*Sometime soon I would like to get a folding hard tonneau cover. I need to be able to not be a 5-finger-discount store on wheels, and I like the way they look.

*Finally (and possibly months down the road) I would like to put chrome tubular running boards on it. My wife has a hard time getting into the truck somethimes, and (again) I like the way they look.

Well, Look forward to pictures soon!

007Tacoma, I am in the market for some tubular running boards myself as my S.O. does have the same problem getting into the truck. I would like to get mine powder painted to match my truck , I think it would look neat and the powder coating lasts a long time.
I am searching for a place that will do it, locally, I can buy step boards powder painted black and then have the place so them in red.
Let us know how the four cylinder goes. jeff

Some how I think you got the better end of the deal...

Most of my friends live in Colorado still. As a matter of fact my bestfriend grew up in Parker and lives in LoDo now. I miss Denver. Of course, the years that I was there, we never had a winter storm like you guys just had. I hope that everything went well for you.

One of the reasons I bought a Tacoma - I know how much they love to play in the snow (even the 2wd beasts like mine). I hope you get to enjoy it! Thanks for the warm welcome!

I thought I had replied to this earlier, but I see that I haven't...

Congratulations on your son! He will be very safe in your new Tacoma. Glad to see someone representing North Carolina. My sister and brother live in Boone, NC. One is going to college and the other graduated in December. My grandparents have a house in Jefferson, NC where my grandmother grew up.

I hope to make it out there this summer, or, better yet, this fall to see the leaves change on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

In any case, Welcome to TW.
