TRD Off-Road ride on city streets

Greetings: I'm a newbie Taco who awaiting my PreRunner 4x2 w TRD Off-Road (I admit, I got it for the chrome grill and didn't like the hood scoop in Sport package.)

I hear great thigns about the Off-Road package off-road, but how's the ride on streets? I read some disheartening reports that Off-Road TRD 4x2s are too bouncy. My Taco is coming from out of state, so I didn't take delivery....Should I, being a city slicker???

 

i test drove both the sport and the off-road and, IMO, the off road is the better than the sport.

the suspension on the sport was very soft and the truck leaned in the corners. it REALLY felt like a car.
the off-road, on the other hand, was much firmer and more solid. it instilled more confidence in the truck for me.

in the end, i bought the off road.. you wont be disappointed either

 

pretty sure both the trd models sport and off road have the same suspension, which i feel rides great

 

Springs are different.

I test-drove the Sport and liked the ride...Model w Off-Road package had to be ordered. But since the est-drive, I've been searching for "reviews" and came across some "bouncy ride" and "uncomfortable" reports on streets -- where I do most driving.

Anything else I should know about by a new PreRunner 4x2er w Off-Road TRD? I can't wait to play with it...

 

Change the shocks to 5100. You'll like the ride a lot more.

 

EAmonk...you have a 4x4?? Think that plays a role in the OR vs Sport feel? Mine is 4x2 because I'm too cheap to spring the extra S for 4x4...

 

I also have a AC Prerunner OR in the household now. There's a slight difference in handling but not much. But then again, the 4x4 has 5100's. The stock trd shocks is way too stiff.

TT congrats on the new Tacoma. I just purchased a new Magnetic Gray TRD OF 4x4 last week and have been quite pleased with the ride on So Cal highways. I'm coming from a 4x4 4Runner and frankly find the handling far superior. Of course a harsh ride is a relative thing given my weekend play toy is a 2006 S/B MINI Cooper S with a limited slip and sports suspension.
